Thousands of runners from nearly 50 countries, a spectacular route through iconic architecture, and an unprecedented number of first-time runners \u2013 the 8th edition of the Energa Gda\u0144sk Marathon went down in history as a celebration of freedom, sport, and family activity. Arkadiusz Gardzielewski won the men's race with a time of 2:22:14, while Aneta Jarosz Karwowska triumphed in the women's race with a time of 2:51:03. The running weekend in Gda\u0144sk was record-breaking in terms of international reach \u2013 runners represented 49 countries.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Royal distance in a new version<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sunday's marathon started promptly at 9:00 am Participants traversed a modernized, even smoother, PZLA-certified route. Runners admired Gda\u0144sk icons: the Shakespeare Theatre, the Baltic Philharmonic, the new footbridge over O\u0142owianka, and the extended section along the beach and Ergo Arena.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The winner of the marathon was Arkadiusz Gardzielewski, and the runner-up was Aneta Jarosz Karwowska.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marathon Relays: Fight to the Last Meters<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The marathon relay race, with seconds deciding the winner, was a thrilling affair. The fastest team in the 8th Energa Gda\u0144sk Marathon was FIGA TEAM, who, after a closely fought race, crossed the finish line in 2:40:49. Victory went to Pawe\u0142 Weber, Tomasz Chmielewski, Kostiantyn Pyshniak, and Pawe\u0142 Kozie\u0142.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fight for gold continued until the very end \u2013 just 26 seconds later, the Endure Team (\u0141ukasz Bejm, \u0141ukasz Sosnowski, Przemys\u0142aw Golus, Aleksander Bartnicki) crossed the finish line, finishing in 2:41:15. The podium was completed by the Banach Coach-Gda\u0144sk team, who, despite a fantastic first leg (the fastest opening leg of the relay), finished in 2:44:22.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year's edition was record-breaking in terms of diversity. Nearly 2,500 runners from 49 countries, including relay teams, reached the finish line. Among them were over 900 runners who were making their debut at the Gda\u0144sk Marathon. Furthermore, 50% more women participated in the race than last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
