Run in the city of freedom!

The running festival returns to Gdańsk

MThe marathon is a true celebration of runners. Completing the royal distance of 42,195 meters is a dream for many amateur runners. After a two-year hiatus, the race at this distance will be held again in Gdańsk in 2025. The city of Gdańsk holds a unique history. It was here that World War II began on September 1, 1939, and that the first independent, self-governing trade unions in Poland were established. Finally, it was in Gdańsk that the social changes that gave impetus to other European societies were initiated, including the fall of the Berlin Wall and the restoration of independence to the Baltic republics – Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. Therefore, the seventh edition of the Gdańsk marathon was held under the slogan „Run in the city of freedom!”. The next opportunity to participate in the race will be in April 2027.

Relay,
that is, there is strength in the team!

JIf you don't feel up to running a marathon on your own, a marathon relay is the perfect solution for you! Invite three people to your relay, form a team that will cover 42,195 meters together and celebrate their finish line. Who you invite to your relay is entirely up to you! It can be a friend, colleague, family member, or work colleague. The important thing is that you have fun and complete the course together. Each member of the relay team contributes to the team's success and contributes to the team's success.

How is the marathon relay organized?

SThe marathon team consists of four people, each completing one leg (part of the route). Participation in the relay requires turning 16 on April 25, 2027. The participant in the first leg receives a relay baton with a chip, which they pass on to subsequent participants at the relay transition points. Participants running in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th legs of the relay travel to the relay transition points on special organizer buses, where they wait for their relay team member from the previous leg to arrive. The relay baton is passed to the relay team in the transition area, and after receiving the baton, the participant begins their leg.

After reaching the transition zone and passing the baton, the relay participant goes to the finish line by bus provided by the organizer, where he or she waits for his or her relay team.

The relay team may cross the finish line together as long as all participants arrive in time to use the organizer's buses. The organizer does not guarantee that all participants will reach the finish line on time.

At the finish line, each relay team will receive 4 medals, which are awarded when the relay baton is returned.
