On Sunday, April 6th, Gdańsk will once again host one of Poland's most important running events. During a press conference just before the start of the Energa Gdańsk Marathon, Martyna Waśniewska and Florian Pyszel, who is vying for victory in the men's race, spoke about their chances of winning the race. Adam Korol also attended the media briefing. – director of the office of the mayor of Gdańsk for sports and representatives of organizers, sponsors and partners event held under the slogan "Run in the city of freedom!"„

GREAT INTEREST AMONG RUNNERS AND EXTENDED EVENT FORMULA
– We developed the marathon route together with the city. I would like to thank the Mayor, Mr. Adam Korol, and Mr. Borawski for their kindness, and the Traffic Management Office for their cooperation. The Energa Gdańsk Marathon showcases the most beautiful places in the city, while we have done everything to minimize disruptions for residents. For example, while runners run around Nowy Port, residents will still be able to exit via Oliwska and Gdańska Streets, and Hallera Avenue. From 11:30 a.m., Marynarki Polskiej Street will be open, and there will be no disruptions in the district. The greatest disruptions will occur on Chłopska and Rzeczypospolitej Streets, but even there, we are only taking up one lane towards Sopot – the road towards Gdańsk city center will remain passable. We have also prepared 11 support zones, including three from our partner, Energa, and one from Trójmiasto.pl. A grassroots neighborhood support zone was created by the Zaspa-Rozstaje district council.,
We're especially proud of this event, as we want to show the friendly side of the marathon – it's not just about closing streets, but also about celebrating and promoting physical activity. We invite everyone to support us!” – he emphasized Adam Greczyło – director of Energa Gdańsk Marathon 2025.
The marathon returns to the streets of Gdańsk after a two-year hiatus with an expanded format. In addition to the individual race over a distance of 42 kilometers and 195 meters, four-person relay teams will also compete. The Gdańsk running festival will also include a 5-kilometer race and the Junior Energa Gdańsk Marathon for the youngest runners.
– This will be a record-breaking marathon in terms of the number of runners. Even though we're returning to Gdańsk after a three-year hiatus, we have 2,800 participants.
Nearly 1,800 people will run in the marathon, including six hundred from Gdańsk.
and women from Gdańsk. We will also have many guests from abroad, from as many as 19 countries, including Great Britain, Portugal, Greece, Germany, and Sweden. 126 will be at the start.
marathon relay teams, we also managed to practically fill the 5 km race limit.
- he said Adam Korol, who will be one of the members of the relay teams during Sunday's race.

FAVORITES TO WIN
The attractive route and timing of the marathon encouraged many successful athletes to participate. Those present at the press conference are certainly among the favorites to win in Gdańsk. Martyna Waśniewska i Florian Pyszel, whose personal best in the marathon distance is 2:19:18 and is almost four minutes better than the current record of the Gdańsk event.
– I started preparing in January. I have three months of intense training behind me. I really want to put in a good performance in Gdańsk, the city where I live every day and with which I identify very much. – he emphasized Florian Pyszel.
– I'm optimistic. I hope I'll be able to achieve my goals and run the distance under three hours. I had a successful half marathon in Pruszcz Gdański, where I managed to get just under an hour and a half, and if it weren't for my coach who ran with me and me a bit
braked, I think it could have been even better – she said with a smile Martyna Waśniewska.

PROMOTION OF PHYSICAL ACTIVITY
In addition to the competition of elite marathon men and women, the two-day event will also include a 5-kilometer run and the Junior Energa Gdańsk Marathon at distances adapted to the age of the participants.
– We promote the city of Gdańsk as a space conducive to a healthy lifestyle and physical activity. The marathon is the culmination of many months of preparation, but the accompanying events are equally important to us: competitions for children and youth, a 5K run, and a relay race. – the mayor of Gdańsk assured during the January press conference announcing the return of the marathon Alexandra Dulkiewicz and these words have lost none of their relevance.
