After a two-year hiatus, Gdańsk will once again host one of Poland's largest running events. During a press conference at Polsat Plus Arena Gdańsk, the marathon's return to Gdańsk streets was announced. The seventh edition of the Energa Gdańsk Marathon, taking place on April 6, 2025, will take in some of the most iconic locations in the Pomeranian capital. The event's slogan is "Run in the City of Freedom!"„
The Energa Gdańsk Marathon returns with an expanded format, offering participants more than just the royal distance of 42,195 meters. The program also includes four-person relay races, a 5-kilometer support race, and the Junior Energa Gdańsk Marathon for the youngest runners.
REGISTER FOR THE RACE
– Registration begins on Friday, November 8th at 6:00 PM, exclusively through the panel at www.gdanskmaraton.com. If you're determined to participate, don't delay – the first 100 people will be able to register for a promotional price of PLN 159. Once this number is used up, the entry fee will increase to PLN 189 and will be valid until the end of 2024. – informs Ewa Greczyło from Energy Events, the main organizer of the event.
150 DAYS UNTIL LAUNCH
Piotr Borawski, deputy mayor of the city of Gdańsk, together with Adam Korol, director of the office of the Mayor of Gdańsk for sports and Łukasz Bejm, Gdańsk City Councilor and Chairman of the Sports Committee, officially launched a clock in the Polsat Sport Arena Gdańsk hall counting down the days to the start of the Energa Gdańsk Marathon – from the day of the conference on November 6, that is exactly 150 days.
– We have some very exciting news to announce today – the marathon is returning to Gdańsk! In just five months, on April 6, 2025, participants will run through the streets of Gdańsk over the royal distance of 42.195 km. The start and finish line will be right next to where we are now – Polsat Plus Arena Gdańsk, and the route will lead through the city's most famous streets. The Energa Gdańsk Marathon will be the jewel in the crown of our running events. Its organization also fulfills our goals – promoting physical activity and culture among residents, building the city's prestige and sense of community. - he said Piotr Borawski.

– We had a short break in organizing the marathon, but we're back and will continue building the event's brand. It's my dream that in the future, the Energa Gdańsk Marathon will join the world's most important marathons. I should add that in addition to the main race on Sunday, there will also be side events on Saturday – a 5k run and children's races. Those who aren't yet well-prepared to run the 42.195 km distance will have the opportunity to participate in a four-person relay team, with each participant covering exactly ¼ of a marathon. - he said Adam Korol.
– This will be a great celebration of running, not only for professional athletes and runners who will be tackling this distance recreationally. We also want it to be a celebration for those who won't be participating in the race but will be an integral part of it – volunteers and fans. I'm inviting all volunteer organizations to collaborate, and Tricity residents to support the route, because nothing gives a runner wings like enthusiastic cheering. We also want to encourage young people to be physically active. By cheering or working with the race staff, they might catch the running bug and eventually compete in the Energa Gdańsk Marathon. - he said Lukasz Bejm.
SAFE PREPARATIONS FOR THE MARATHON
The organizers are placing particular emphasis on safe and conscious preparation for the race. A 12-week training program, "Brooks, Be Ready!", will launch in January 2025. Its goal is to provide participants with the practical and theoretical knowledge necessary to complete the marathon. All registered runners will be able to take advantage of free training sessions. The sessions will be led by Marek Jaroszewski, Polish athlete, winner of, among others, the Houston Marathon in 2004.
