Run in the City of Freedom! The 8th Energa Gdańsk Marathon is coming!

Gdańsk, a city with a remarkable history, will once again become the scene of great sporting excitement. In April 2026, thousands of runners will tackle the majestic distance of 42,195 meters during the 8th edition of the Energa Gdańsk Marathon. It's not just a race—it's a demonstration of strength, solidarity, and the triumph of will in the place where freedom was born.

For many running enthusiasts, the marathon is the ultimate athletic dream. Following the success of the 2025 edition, the streets of Gdańsk will once again be filled with the rhythmic clatter of shoes and the cheering of fans. The race route is a "live" history lesson. Runners will pass iconic sites: from Westerplatte, where World War II broke out, to the Gdańsk Shipyard, where Solidarity was born, to the city's modern icons.

New on the route: Shakespeare, Philharmonic and Baltic

The organizers listened to the competitors' feedback to make the 2026 route even more attractive and comfortable. The troublesome bottlenecks at the Shipyard guardhouse and the Holy Spirit Gate have been eliminated. Instead, participants will run alongside Gdańsk Shakespeare Theatre, Baltic Philharmonic and by the new footbridge to Ołowianka. Due to renovations, the relaxing section along the beach has been extended, and runners will also be able to circle ERGO Arena, announcing the autumn Sopot Half Marathon. The route is certified by the Polish Athletics Association, guaranteeing precise measurements.

Team Power: Marathon Relay

For those who prefer to share their excitement with others, a relay race is the perfect solution. Teams of four will cover the marathon distance together, working towards a single victory. It's a great opportunity to invite friends, family, or colleagues and experience the magic of the stadium finish. This year, the relay will feature, among others, a popular actress. Grażyna Wolszczak, who will run with her trainer Monika Słomska.

Voice of the Organizer: Adam Greczyło, Director of Energa Gdańsk Marathon

– We are proud that Gdańsk has become home to marathon runners. We see an incredible trend in 2026 – it has already recorded 50% more women than last year! We are hosting runners from 49 countries, which proves the international importance of the event. I am particularly touched by the number of almost 900 debutants. That's over a third of all participants! Their trust is our greatest compliment – they know that Gdańsk is a friendly, safe, and ideal place for that first, most important experience in your life. To make preparations easier, the competition office at AmberExpo is opening a day earlier, on Friday!
