Nearly 3,000 runners from 19 countries participated in the 7th Energa Gdańsk Marathon, which took place on April 6, 2025. Despite low temperatures and windy conditions, the event attracted a record number of participants. Gdańsk's Florian Pyszel (Brooks Team) completed the race fastest with a time of 2:20:25, breaking the previous course record by almost three minutes. Katarzyna Chojnacka of UKS Orkan Środa Wielkopolska triumphed in the women's category (2:57:35). The event returned after a two-year hiatus, confirming Gdańsk's status as a major running center in Poland.
THERE IS NO BAD WEATHER FOR RUNNING
The unfavorable weather and low temperatures didn't deter runners from taking part. Nearly 3,000 participants competed individually and in four-person relay teams, in the 5-kilometer race, and in the Junior Energa Gdańsk Marathon on Saturday.

– When we returned to organize the event after a two-year hiatus, I was a little worried that the runners hadn't forgotten us. However, the high turnout showed that the running community was eagerly awaiting the marathon's return to Gdańsk. It was a record-breaking event in terms of the number of participants. 1,800 people from 19 countries registered to run the marathon, including approximately 600 from Gdańsk. There were also over 120 relay teams and nearly 500 participants in the 5-kilometer run. - he said Adam Greczyło from Energy Events, director of Energa Gdańsk Marathon 2025.
THE FAVORITES DID NOT DISAPPOINT

– Thank you all for your support, because without the fans, this result would definitely not have been possible. I think we showed today that there's no better place to run than Gdańsk. – he said just after the finish line Florian Pyszel, who improved the event record by almost 3 minutes with a time of 2:20:25 Rafał Czarnecki – he finished today's marathon in 3rd place.
– I'm very happy with my result. Especially since it was really tough today, with some sections of the course very windy, but the fans gave me a lot of energy to accelerate. I think the wind knocked 40-50 seconds off my final time, so I had a great chance of breaking 2:20. I definitely have much bigger ambitions than just winning races in the Tricity area. However, I will always compete here because I really like the atmosphere and organization of these races. – he added Czarnecki.
The fastest among women Katarzyna Chojnacka Just after the finish line she was overjoyed, but also very surprised and amazed by her success.

– I'm shocked I won here. I thought I was running second because I was convinced I saw a girl in front of me. I stuck to the pacemakers for three hours. So I ran calmly, at a steady pace, as I was a bit worried about cramps in this temperature. The start was relaxed, I ran in a group, so I was sheltered from the wind. Today's run was practically free of any crises; I had everything under control. The final climb was a bit tough, but luckily the wind wasn't as strong as we thought. Only positives today. – she said Chojnacka.
