This year, Energa will once again accompany runners over the royal distance of 42,195 meters as the title sponsor of the Gdańsk Marathon. Less than 100 days remain until the running event, which takes place on April 19th.
Energa is supporting the Gdańsk Marathon for the second time, as it returns to the city streets after a two-year hiatus. Last year, 1,503 runners completed the full distance, including 724 Gdańsk residents. The race marked the marathon debut for over 900 participants. Additionally, 130 relay teams participated in the event, and 352 people attempted the 5-kilometer run. Races for children aged 1-15 were also organized, with 175 young enthusiasts participating.
The Energa Gdańsk Marathon, held under the slogan "Run in the City of Freedom!", will start and finish at Polsat Plus Arena Gdańsk. The route will take in the city's most important and iconic landmarks, including the European Solidarity Centre, the Monument to the Fallen Shipyard Workers, the Main Town, the Neptune Monument, the Ergo Arena, the coastal strip, and the Gdańsk Brzeźno Pier. The exact route will be announced soon.
– The Gdańsk Marathon is more than just a 42-kilometer race. It's about weeks of preparation, personal goals, debuts, and on race day, a huge dose of emotion and energy that can be felt along the entire route. At Energa, we want to be a part of this event once again, because the Energa Włącza Sport and Energa Włącza Kibicowanie projects are about exactly that: encouraging exercise, experiencing sport together, and building a positive atmosphere around physical activity. The Gdańsk Marathon unites runners, fans, and residents, and its route through the city of freedom perfectly reflects the values we hold dear – energy, openness, and commitment. – says Magdalena Marszałkowska, director of the Marketing Department of Energi SA.
This year, apart from the royal distance competition, during the April running festival in Pomerania you will be able to take part in 4-person relay races, a 5-kilometer run and the Energa Junior Gdańsk Marathon at distances adapted to the age of the participants.
At the moment, the start list includes 1,800 runners registered for the marathon, 42 4-person relay teams, 230 people in the 5 km race and 43 children in the accompanying races.
